About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role helps with day-to-day store activities, merchandise handling and presentation, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, ordering and processing merchandise, record keeping, loss prevention, and maintaining store standards. It also helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates while promoting a positive, safe, and respectful environment. The position includes maintaining store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas presentable. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain positive, safe, and respectful interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned or required by the supervisor.
