About The Position

The Assistant Manager I assists the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports day-to-day store activities, helps customers, maintains merchandise and displays, processes corporate directives, and assists with store administration, loss prevention, and asset protection. It also helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and contributes to a positive, safe, and respectful environment. The position includes maintaining store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, and trash, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store communications.
Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping—including payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits, and receipts—and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure associates follow them as well.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment and maintain professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
