About The Position

The Assistant Manager I assists the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports day-to-day store activities, helps maintain merchandise presentation and stockroom organization, carries out opening and closing procedures, and processes corporate communications and directives. It also contributes to merchandise ordering and damage processing, record keeping, loss prevention, and protection of company assets. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop associates while supporting a safe, respectful, and welcoming store environment. The position also includes maintaining store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, and trash areas, and performing other related duties as assigned. This is a part-time position at the Dollar Tree location at 1320 Corsicana Highway, Hillsboro, Texas 76645-2614. The job specification may be amended as business needs evolve; employment is at-will and the description is not a contract of employment.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive and approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain the sales floor and stockroom to company standards, including keeping the sales floor well stocked and the stockroom organized.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates follow them as well.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
