About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with daily store activities, helps customers, supports merchandise handling and store presentation, and performs opening and closing procedures as needed. It also involves processing corporate directives, helping with merchandise ordering and damaged goods, maintaining records, supporting loss prevention, and safeguarding company assets. The Assistant Manager helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates; promotes a positive, safe, and respectful environment; and maintains store cleanliness, including bathrooms, floors, trash, and other areas. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives is required.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive and approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store-related communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom according to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
