About The Position

The Assistant Manager I helps the Store Manager oversee store operations, customer service, and team development. The role supports daily store activities, merchandise handling and presentation, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, record keeping, loss prevention, and adherence to company policies and safety guidelines. It also helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and supports a positive, safe, respectful, and customer-friendly store environment. The position includes maintaining store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable. Additional duties may be assigned. The job is part-time and located at 11302 Bissonnet St., Houston, Texas 77099. Managers may need to provide background information to meet local licensing requirements for stores selling alcohol or tobacco.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor as needed, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other communications related to store activities.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Maintain store areas to company standards, including a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
