About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with daily store activities, helps customers, maintains merchandise and store presentation, and supports the Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates. The position also helps ensure compliance with company directives, policies, safety guidelines, and operational standards. It includes maintaining store cleanliness and completing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics.
Ability to lift up to 55 pounds from floor to above shoulder height.
Ability to meet the physical demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Assist customers in a positive, approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor, and maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives and communications, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and Key Survey information requests.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom in accordance with company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Promote a positive, safe, and respectful environment through professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
