About The Position

The Assistant Manager I supports the Store Manager with store operations, customer service, and team development. The role assists with daily store activities, merchandise handling and presentation, opening and closing procedures, corporate directives, ordering, record keeping, loss prevention, asset protection, policy compliance, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization. The Assistant Manager also helps supervise, train, and develop Store Associates and works to maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and employees. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives, such as merchandise schematics, is required.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are required.
Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.

Nice To Haves

Store management experience in a retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
Help customers in a positive and approachable manner and address their questions or concerns.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery trucks to the stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
Process corporate directives and communications, including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, and Key Survey information requests.
Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise ordering, damaged merchandise processing, record keeping, payroll, scheduling, cash register deposits and receipts, and loss prevention.
Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
Protect and secure company assets, including store cash.
Follow safety guidelines and company policies and procedures, and ensure store associates do the same.
Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment and professional, friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
Maintain store cleanliness, including cleaning and restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable.
Perform other duties as assigned.
