About The Position

Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our Food and Beverage team is no exception to creating an experience of a lifetime. The Food and Beverage Assistant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of an assigned restaurant or lodge location, supporting a multi-unit Food and Beverage Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences, achieving financial goals, and developing high-performing teams. This position serves as the on-site operational leader, overseeing staff, guest experience, safety, and execution of resort standards. Some culinary experience is helpful to the role but not necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of restaurant, hospitality, food service, or resort leadership experience
  • Previous experience supervising and developing employees required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and labor management practices.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Some culinary experience is helpful to the role but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily restaurant to ensure exceptional guest service, food quality, and operational execution.
  • Train, coach, schedule, and develop front-of-house and back-of-house team members.
  • Manage employee performance through ongoing feedback, recognition, coaching, and accountability.
  • Partner with the Food and Beverage Manager to achieve financial, labor, inventory, and guest satisfaction goals.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, food safety standards, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Monitor staffing levels and operational readiness to meet business demands.
  • Respond to guest concerns and service recovery opportunities in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall facility standards throughout the operation.
  • Support ordering, inventory management, and cost control initiatives.
  • Collaborate with culinary and resort leadership teams to deliver consistent guest experiences.
  • Prepare reports, complete administrative responsibilities, and communicate operational updates as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
