About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Brokerage Manager, the Assistant Manager will be responsible for overseeing the quality and productivity of the Brokerage department while working in collaboration with our customs and freight departments Managers. This role involves overseeing the performance and productivity of Customs Associates and Raters, assisting Customs Managers with special projects, optimizing team productivity, analyzing operations for improvement, and resolving operational issues including client disputes. The Assistant Manager will also support Customs Associates in daily operations and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

5 years of experience in customs and transportation
Experience in dealing with local and national brokerage procedures and knowledge of US customs regulations
Working knowledge of customs import regulations, freight forwarding and processes as well as H.S. tariff classification

Nice To Haves

Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) is an asset
Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as independently
Excellent problem solving skills
Extremely detail oriented and organized

Responsibilities

Oversees the performance of the Customs Associates on a daily basis by maintaining a high standard of accuracy, productivity and overall moral.
Evaluates the team of Raters on performance and productivity.
Assists Customs Managers on special projects as needed.
Optimizes productivity of the team in collaboration with the Customs Managers.
Analysis on improving the operation in collaboration with the Customs Managers.
Assists the Customs Managers to identify and resolve any issues associated with daily operations including client disputes.
Supports and assists Customs Associates in daily operations.
Performs various other duties as assigned.
