About The Position

The Associate Manager, Category Development is responsible for developing strong customer relationships with Walmart by providing category solutions based on business trends, industry trends and category management expertise. This role will also work on developing insightful and actionable reporting, analysis and selling story presentations based on key category trends. Finally, this position will influence the line review process and be the expert in Walmart’s category as well as the key strategic partner to assist with the development of their strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years customer-facing Sales and/or Category Management experience (advisor preferred)
  • BA/BS required, Marketing/Business Administration preferred
  • Outstanding written & verbal communication skills
  • Analytical mindset
  • Experienced in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Power Point, Access)
  • Experience in developing & delivering compelling stories / presentations
  • Relationship building
  • Project Management / Prioritization

Nice To Haves

  • Scintilla and Retail Link experience preferred
  • Proficiency in JDA space planning software preferred
  • Syndicated Data (Nielsen or IRI) preferred

Responsibilities

  • As a category advisor, work closely with the Walmart merchant team to develop and grow total category sales by leveraging POS data, syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, and category and industry trends
  • Serve as Category / Industry Expert to customer merchant & team
  • Lead assessment, analysis, & insight generation for customer on assigned categories
  • Maintain direct account responsibility with regular ongoing customer face-to-face meetings
  • Own category management / analytics
  • Develop strong advisor relationships
  • Be a category and thought leader with the customer to help develop category strategy based on insights and market trends and bring innovative ideas to aid in decision-making
  • Develop and deliver presentations
  • Manage the category relay and modular (planogram) building process
  • Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting to provide insights, identify opportunities and deliver solutions
  • Influence the line review process with insights and data to make recommendations on optimal assortment, planogram space allocation, and flow
  • May perform other duties as assigned
