About The Position

Ensures the availability and safe operation of production assets through a combination of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. Analyzes maintenance-related data to meet company-wide uptime goals and reduce unscheduled downtime. Responsible for the development, supervision, and continuous improvement of Maintenance Technicians. Directs and supports Maintenance Supervisors, and promotes a systematic root cause analysis approach to problem solving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university and 4 years of related experience; or Technical Associate’s degree and 8 years of related experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Must be able to function in a team environment by working with, and cooperating with others.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in both written and oral forms with others.
  • Should be pro-actively involved in the improvement process, and promote its use within the facility.
  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge of PLC and CNC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge of electrical/electronic circuits and test equipment (e.g. multimeters, ammeters, voltmeters, etc.).
  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics with the ability to troubleshoot and program.
  • Knowledge of welding and simple fabrication. Welding should include: stick, mig, and tig.
  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge of machine control circuits and understanding of schematics.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, pumps, feed lines, PVC, CPVC, copper and metal piping.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes machine downtime issues, develops appropriate countermeasures and monitors results.
  • Coordinates activities with other departments, including Production, Engineering, Quality and the Tool Room.
  • Uses mean time to repair (MTTR) to measure and improve the effectiveness of maintenance technicians.
  • Ensures department personnel are trained, equipped and motivated to accomplish objectives in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
  • Tracks work orders (categorizes, prioritizes, schedules) to efficiently use maintenance resources and reduce quantity of open work orders.
  • Monitors preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) effectiveness.
  • Provides ongoing technical support for production equipment.
  • Occasionally assists in troubleshooting and/or repairing equipment.
  • Oversees the spare parts inventory for process equipment.
  • Reviews and recommends critical maintenance spare parts.
  • Maintains maintenance measures of performance.
  • Develops budgets as they relate to machine maintenance and department labor.
  • Tracks budget and reacts to issues; plans mid-year budget adjustments.
  • Reviews and recommends outside maintenance service providers.
  • Oversees participation of the maintenance team in structured continuous improvement activities.
  • Recommends capital improvement projects.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
