About The Position

The PT Assistant Maintenance Controller is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Operations Resource Management (ADORM) to track and comply with all maintenance events and maintenance discrepancies for Liberty owned and operated aircraft. This position will enable coverage of the functions to support flight training and a high quality / safe student training experience during the 100 hours / 6 days per week that LUSOA is open for flight operations. The DFO will continuously review and analyze flight scheduling and flight training performance to ensure the most efficient and adaptive operation possible as the directorate adds 20% more instructional staff members, 30% more flight students, and 4 more aircraft by Fall 2024.

Requirements

  • College degree or acceptable work experience in the field of aircraft maintenance
  • Airframe and Powerplant Certificate or working on the FAA certifications
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent computer skills, especially familiar with ETA and RMS
  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature
  • Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Freedom Aviation on call maintenance and LUSOA dispatch for unscheduled maintenance events when contract MX is not onsite for off base maintenance repairs when needed
  • Coordinate with ADORM to help stagger/schedule maintenance events
  • Be available to communicate with flight crews concerning discrepancies at home base and away on cross-country flights
  • Certify the accuracy of all maintenance logbook entries
  • Track and validate any deferred maintenance items
  • Coordinate with Supervisor of Flight, Dispatch and Scheduling at the Integrated Operations Center
  • Complete preflight inspections for priority training events such as FAA check rides to identify /correct discrepancies and ensure event success
  • Provide aircraft detailing / minor MX activities to improve fleet appearance/functionality
