About The Position

Common Man Roadside Market & Deli is hiring an Assistant Kitchen Manager for their Portsmouth store, located on Route 1/ Lafayette Rd. This role involves supporting the General Manager in the operations and performance of the kitchen to meet organizational objectives. It is a working management role where managers work on the line, prep food, offer hands-on training, guidance, and development of staff, and assist customers as needed. The kitchen serves guests for eat-in, take out, and grab & go meals in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Minimum 3 years culinary experience
• Must be able to obtain/maintain relevant certifications, including ServSafe
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to kneel, squat, bend and reach to stock shelves
• Must be able to lift/ carry packages up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the planning and preparation of food production
• Ordering and inventory management
• Daily paperwork, reporting, and logs
• Safety and sanitation
• Employee management, including scheduling, training, and development
• Work on the line and prep food
• Offer hands-on training, guidance, and development of staff
• Assist customers as needed
