About The Position

Baillie Lumber in Titusville, Pennsylvania, is hiring a full-time Assistant Kiln Operator to help dry lumber in a kiln. The role includes loading and unloading kilns and assisting the head kiln operator with data entry, sampling, maintenance, and other assigned duties. Responsibilities

Assist with controlling dry kilns to dry lumber to specified moisture content.
Measure lumber moisture content before drying using a moisture meter, or prepare, weigh, and periodically reweigh lumber samples during drying to determine moisture reduction.
Determine drying cycles and schedules based on factors such as species, thickness, quantity, initial moisture content, and sample moisture-reduction rates.
Weigh lumber samples daily during drying and adjust temperature and humidity controls to regulate moisture reduction and avoid damage to lumber.
Monitor drying quality using kiln samples and adjust drying rates to ensure lumber meets quality standards.
Operate a forklift to load and unload dry kilns.
Assist the head kiln operator with data entry, sampling, maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
