The Assistant HR Manager is responsible for operational and administrative support for general Human Resource functions, including Employee Relations, Communications, Policy Administration, Talent Management and Succession Planning, Headcount Management, Training, and Salaried Payroll. Under the leadership of the HR Manager, this position is responsible for interfacing with employees regarding inquiries related to performance management, pay, benefits, and other general HR matters. This role also involves overseeing day-to-day activities of other HR team members in the absence of the HR Manager, providing daily support for employees on communications, processes, policies, and employee relations issues, and working to resolve personnel issues. The Assistant HR Manager serves as an advisor to employees and managers on human resource policies and procedures, coaches and mentors staff, and fosters teamwork. They are expected to demonstrate exemplary integrity, establish a reputation as a trusted and honest advocate, and maintain the highest professional standards through positive and productive interaction with employees. The role also includes acting as a liaison between employees and insurance providers for benefit-related issues, coordinating annual benefit enrollment, and supporting employees' understanding of benefit options. They coordinate Leaves of Absence, including FMLA, with third-party vendors and other leave-related benefits like short-term/long-term disability and return-to-work processes. Developing positive relationships with supervisors and managers regarding performance management, discipline, performance reviews, and company policies is crucial. The position drives and supports employee recognition programs, assists in recruitment (sourcing, screening, scheduling, interviewing), supports employee training and the Training Tracking System, and aids in the employee onboarding process, making recommendations for improvements. Conducting and analyzing exit interview feedback and making recommendations, maintaining employee information and reporting, processing unemployment insurance paperwork, and striving for a positive organizational impact are also key. The role requires collaborative work with team members through knowledge transfer and building effective business relationships, and maintaining compliance with company attendance guidelines. The position may require working overtime as assigned.
