About The Position

The Assistant Hospital Director provides comprehensive support to the Hospital Director in overseeing clinical operations, regulatory compliance, staff coordination, and performance improvement initiatives. This position ensures operational excellence, supports Joint Commission compliance, and promotes a culture of continuous quality improvement across hospital functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required
  • Work history of three plus years in healthcare operations, quality management, or performance improvement.
  • Must have administrative supervisory history of no less than two years.
  • Will consider other non-licensable degrees with commensurate work experience and skill, including BSN or RN.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or other business degree Master’s degree preferred.
  • Inpatient behavioral health experience preferred but not required.
  • Preceptor and teaching experience helpful

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring adherence to professional standards and federal/state regulations, including Joint Commission accreditation requirements.
  • Provide interpretation and guidance to staff on evolving compliance matters.
  • Lead and support performance improvement initiatives using data-driven methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care, safety, and organizational efficiency.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Aid in daily hospital operations including staff scheduling, onboarding, and coordination.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, reports, and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate and support internal training efforts, including onboarding and in-service planning.
  • Provide education on quality improvement methodologies and Joint Commission standards.
  • Ensure accuracy of documentation in collaboration with medical records staff.
  • Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and support decision-making.
  • Serve as a liaison between hospital departments, leadership, and accreditation bodies.
  • Communicate quality improvement strategies and results.
  • Other tasks as delegated by the Hospital Director
  • May assist in coordination of staff activities and has limited direct supervisory responsibilities and may act as hospital administrator in the absence of the administrator.
