Your responsibilities will involve working with engineers, consultants, and applicants to ensure project compliance and support safe access to state highways.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and graduation from high school or equivalent certification of formal training.
  • Completion of a training program in construction inspection sanctioned by the using agency may be substituted for high school graduation.
  • An Associate Degree in an engineering or closely related technology may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience; or Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
  • A valid Class C driver's license that is not under suspension.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed reviews of plans, specifications, and materials to determine compliance with state standards
  • Direct subordinate supervisors in inspecting project sites before and after permit activities
  • Guide staff and applicants through design changes and occupancy permit requirements
  • Request and review field data such as traffic counts and sight distance to evaluate project impacts
  • Coordinate consultant engineering reviews and assess complex or overflow project referrals
  • Ensure traffic studies and hydraulic reviews are completed by the appropriate district units
