The Department of Transportation is looking for a dedicated Assistant Highway Maintenance Manager who is eager to guide roadway maintenance projects across the region. Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, Roadway Programs Coordinator, or Transportation Construction Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Six years of technical experience in highway maintenance, highway construction, or maintenance of heavy equipment used in highway construction projects
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for roadway maintenance and seasonal operations
  • Crew Supervision: Oversee maintenance crews, assign tasks, monitor work, and support performance evaluations
  • Operational Management: Review resource needs, manage materials and equipment, and guide emergency response efforts
  • Field Oversight: Conduct inspections, review work quality, and coordinate contract construction and maintenance activities
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Meet with local officials and partner organizations to discuss priorities and address area needs
