About The Position

Valle Verde in Santa Barbara, CA, recently named "Best Continuing Care Retirement Community in the U.S. 2025" by Newsweek magazine is seeking a full-time Assistant Health Services Administrator for its Skilled Health Center. Full-time, Monday - Friday $85,000 to $100,000 (DOE) Salaried, Exempt position Job Summary: The Assistant Health Services Administrator supports the overall administration of health services operations within the community. Working under the direction of the Health Services Administrator, this role helps coordinate day-to-day operations, compliance activities, resident service support, financial and administrative processes, and cross-functional follow-up to help ensure quality care, regulatory readiness, operational efficiency, and resident satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, social work, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered where permitted.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in senior living, healthcare, post-acute care, or another regulated service environment.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare or residential service operations, compliance requirements, and administrative business processes.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, analyze issues, exercise sound judgment, and follow through on operational matters.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, physicians, vendors, and other business partners.
  • Proficiency in standard business software and ability to prepare reports, correspondence, and routine operational documentation.
  • Expected to meet eligibility requirements to pursue Nursing Home Administrator licensure and, when required by the role, obtain such licensure within an established timeframe.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a continuing care retirement community, skilled nursing, assisted living, or memory support setting.
  • Experience supporting surveys, audits, plans of correction, or formal quality improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with electronic health records, resident billing or revenue-cycle processes, and Microsoft Office or similar reporting tools.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within established timeframes.
  • Prior exempt operations leadership experience in a regulated healthcare environment.
  • Administrator licensure, eligibility, or demonstrable readiness for broader operational leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supports daily health services operations across skilled nursing, assisted living, and related service areas.
  • Coordinates follow-up on operational issues involving resident services, ancillary services, admissions support, and cross-functional service delivery.
  • Assists with monitoring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements and internal policies.
  • Supports survey readiness, audits, inspections, plans of correction, and follow-up actions.
  • Monitors assigned quality, service, and operational indicators and escalates issues requiring leadership attention.
  • Helps maintain administrative processes related to resident rights, service standards, and policy and procedure implementation.
  • Coordinates assigned staffing and team support activities, including scheduling follow-up, onboarding coordination, documentation, and routine performance support.
  • Provides day-to-day coordination and functional direction to assigned team members or departments as delegated.
  • Assists with budget administration, invoice review, purchasing follow-up, expense tracking, and other assigned financial processes.
  • Supports billing, accounts receivable, collections, census tracking, and related operational reporting.
  • Coordinates with physicians, pharmacies, therapy providers, consultants, and vendors to support service delivery and issue resolution.
  • Helps maintain a safe, clean, and survey-ready environment by coordinating follow-up on life safety, emergency preparedness, environmental rounds, and preventive maintenance issues.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, and operational documentation.
  • Represents the Health Services Administrator in assigned meetings, rounds, or follow-up activities as delegated.
