About The Position

Cantera Montessori School, a private boutique Montessori preschool, is seeking an exceptional Assistant Head of School to help lead its growing campus community. This role is for a motivated, organized, and compassionate leader who is passionate about early childhood education and thrives in a highly collaborative environment. The Assistant Head of School will partner closely with the Head of School to support the day-to-day operations of the campus, ensuring an outstanding experience for every child, family, and staff member. Leadership at Cantera Montessori means being present, engaged, and willing to step in wherever needed to support the success of the school community. The Assistant Head of School plays a vital role in ensuring the campus operates smoothly, efficiently, and with a strong focus on children and families. This role combines leadership, administration, operations, and hands-on support throughout the school day, with responsibilities ranging from overseeing family onboarding and administrative systems to supporting classroom operations and campus organization. The role is designed to be varied, with tasks that may include supporting enrollment or staff scheduling, assisting with classroom coverage, organizing supplies, helping with snack preparation, or ensuring campus operations stay on track. This position was intentionally designed to divide critical leadership responsibilities between the Head of School and Assistant Head of School, requiring a collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to teamwork.

Requirements

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.

  • Confidence managing responsibilities independently while working as part of a team.
  • Experience working with technology, mobile devices, and computer systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a preschool, childcare, or educational setting.
  • Leadership or administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Montessori experience or Montessori credentials are a significant plus.
  • Willingness to embrace Montessori philosophy and participate in Montessori training if needed.
  • ECE coursework completed or willingness to pursue required training.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Head of School to manage daily campus operations.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Ensure families have a welcoming, organized, and positive school experience.
  • Support enrollment, onboarding, billing, scheduling, and administrative systems.
  • Help ensure classrooms are properly staffed, supported, and equipped each day.
  • Maintain organization of supplies, inventory, and campus logistics.
  • Step in wherever needed to support smooth school operations.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
  • Lead by example through consistency, communication, and service-minded leadership.
