The Assistant Group Supervisor is responsible for all operations of the classroom including planning and implementing appropriate activities, following the daily schedules, supervising and coordinating activities with the classroom aides and/or volunteers. This role requires adherence to YMCA Personnel and Child Care Policies, State Regulations for Child Care Centers, and the Character Traits of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The Assistant Group Supervisor must report concerns to the Center Director, establish and model appropriate classroom management skills, and ensure the safety and well-being of all children through appropriate supervision and interactions. Behavior management through positive guidance, redirection, and conflict resolution is essential, as is establishing and consistently following a set of reasonable limits and consequences. The role involves assisting the Center Director in carrying out activities related to positive outcomes for children, parents, and staff, and participating fully in all center activities. Maintaining an orderly classroom and center environment, communicating with parents, reporting parent concerns to the Group Supervisor, and maintaining confidentiality of records are also key responsibilities. The Assistant Group Supervisor will coordinate and plan with other teachers to ensure proper staffing ratios and assist in maintaining and submitting program records such as lesson plans. Attendance at staff meetings and trainings, maintaining PDR, and ensuring completion of required training hours are necessary. The role may also involve assisting the Center Director or Group Supervisor with other duties to maintain quality child care.
