About The Position

The Assistant Group Leader supports staff in carrying out planned educational and enrichment activities for an after-school enrichment and recreational program. The role assists the Group Leader and activity instructors, supervises participants, and helps maintain a safe and supportive program environment. The position is located at 2205 Lorillard Place, Bronx, New York 10458, and runs during the school year from September through June, Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week. It is non-exempt and pays $17 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits and the ability to work with youth.
• Be available during the listed program hours.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Be able and willing to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Be committed to working from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Group Leader with engaging sports, recreation, educational, arts and crafts, and special-event activities.
• Collect the attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout the after-school program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Help monitor and maintain program rules and uphold the after-school model.
• Support activity instructors with lessons.
• Collaborate with the Group Leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
