About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Grocery Department. This position assists with inventory management, merchandising, employee supervision, customer service, and operational execution to ensure the department achieves sales, profitability, and service goals. The Assistant Grocery Manager serves as a department leader and assumes responsibility for department operations in the absence of the Grocery Manager.

  • Supporting shrink reduction efforts.
  • Assisting with inventory counts and discrepancy investigations.
  • Supporting department sales, labor, and profitability objectives.
  • Monitoring productivity and operating performance.
  • Controlling labor expenses and reducing waste.
  • Implementing action plans for department improvement.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, food safety, and procedures.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for customers and employees.
  • Addressing safety concerns promptly.
  • Supporting loss prevention and asset protection.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as acting department leader when the Grocery Manager is absent.

  • Assist customers with product inquiries and special requests.
  • Resolve customer concerns and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure employees deliver friendly, courteous, and efficient service.
  • Assist in executing promotional programs, seasonal displays, and merchandising initiatives.
  • Maintain attractive, fully stocked, and properly signed sales displays.
