About The Position

The Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in overseeing daily grocery department operations, including inventory management, merchandising, customer service, associate development, and operational execution. This position helps ensure the department achieves sales, labor, shrink, and customer satisfaction goals while maintaining in-stock conditions, attractive displays, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Supports stocking, replenishment, merchandising, and inventory control processes.
  • Ensures shelves, end caps, and promotional displays are fully stocked, properly signed, and merchandised according to company standards.
  • Monitors department conditions, cleanliness, and organization throughout the store.
  • Supports execution of company initiatives, seasonal programs, and promotional events.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to grocery associates.
  • Assists with hiring, onboarding, training, and developing associates.
  • Promotes a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence.
  • Monitors associate productivity and provides feedback to support performance improvement.
  • Assumes leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Grocery Manager.
  • Assists with ordering, receiving, stocking, and inventory management activities.
  • Ensures proper product rotation and inventory control procedures are followed.
  • Monitors out-of-stock conditions and coordinates replenishment efforts.
  • Maintains accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution.
  • Helps reduce shrink through proper handling, rotation, and inventory practices.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service and ensures customer needs are met promptly.
  • Assists customers with product inquiries, product locations, and special requests.
  • Resolves customer concerns professionally and effectively.
  • Supports a customer-focused culture throughout the department.
  • Supports achievement of department sales, labor, profitability, and shrink objectives.
  • Assists in monitoring department performance metrics and operational reports.
  • Supports labor planning and scheduling efforts.
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities to improve departmental performance.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Promotes workplace safety and proper use of equipment.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Supports department readiness for audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
