The Assistant Grocery Manager assists in directing and supervising the daily operations of the Grocery Department to ensure outstanding customer service, maximum sales and profitability, effective merchandising, and compliance with Company policies and procedures. This position supports the Grocery Manager in leading department associates, maintaining inventory levels, and delivering a clean, safe, and well-stocked shopping environment.

Requirements

  • Assists in directing and supervising the daily operations of the Grocery Department.
  • Ensures outstanding customer service, maximum sales and profitability, effective merchandising, and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Supports the Grocery Manager in leading department associates.
  • Maintains inventory levels.
  • Delivers a clean, safe, and well-stocked shopping environment.
  • Demonstrates and promotes exceptional customer service.
  • Resolves customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Supports sales growth through effective merchandising and execution of promotional programs.
  • Ensures department conditions meet company standards for presentation and service.
  • Assists with the daily operation of Grocery, Dairy, Frozen, and related sales areas as assigned.
  • Maintains proper inventory levels and in-stock conditions.
  • Monitors product rotation, code dates, and freshness standards.
  • Ensures compliance with merchandising plans, pricing integrity, and shelf maintenance.
  • Assists in managing shrink and controlling department expenses.
  • Supports hiring, training, coaching, and development of grocery associates.
  • Provides direction and assigns work responsibilities.
  • Promotes a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Assists with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing and business needs are met.
  • Holds associates accountable to company performance and service standards.
  • Maintains compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Assists with audits, inventory counts, and operational reviews.
  • Reports safety concerns, policy violations, and operational issues promptly.
  • Assists in achieving department sales, labor, and profit goals.
  • Monitors department productivity and operating expenses.
  • Supports inventory management and accurate ordering practices.
  • Helps implement plans to improve profitability and reduce shrink.
