Assist the Grocery Manager in directing and controlling all grocery department operations to achieve sales, profit, shrink, labor, and customer service goals while ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures. Requirements

  • Prior grocery retail experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to supervise, train, and motivate associates
  • Working knowledge of grocery operations, merchandising, and inventory control
  • Basic retail math and report interpretation skills
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities
  • Computer proficiency appropriate to department systems

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading daily grocery department operations to meet division and store objectives.
  • Support total store and department‑level customer service initiatives.
  • Assist with ordering, inventory management, product rotation, and maintaining proper stock levels.
  • Execute merchandising plans, planograms, displays, and promotional programs.
  • Monitor and control shrink through proper handling, storage, inventory control, and adherence to loss prevention procedures.
  • Support labor planning, scheduling, productivity tracking, and adherence to labor budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, safety, and company operating standards.
  • Supervise and direct grocery department associates, assigning work and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Train, coach, and develop associates; provide feedback and input on performance.
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and corrective action processes as appropriate.
  • Review sales, inventory, shrink, and labor reports and take action within established guidelines.
  • Ensure accuracy of receiving, backroom organization, and inventory records.
  • Act as Manager‑on‑Duty when assigned and provide leadership coverage as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with store management and other department leaders.
