The purpose of this classification is to assist with golf pro shop operations, golf cart maintenance, and other golf course activities and to provide customer service to golfers/customers. This role involves providing direction and guidance to employees, coordinating work activities, assigning and overseeing work, and developing work schedules. The Assistant Golf Professional operates the golf shop, performs opening/closing procedures, and oversees staff, player assistants, cart attendants, and range attendants. They coordinate starting time procedures, record rounds played, and announce golfers to the tee. Customer service is a key aspect, including providing information on services, merchandise, rentals, fees, and tee times, as well as responding to inquiries and initiating problem resolution. The role also involves assisting customers with golfing activities, offering advice on swings and club usage, transporting customers via golf cart, and administering CPR or first aid in emergencies. Responsibilities include conducting merchandise sales, maintaining inventory, stocking merchandise, and performing inventory counts. They collect payments for merchandise, fees, and rentals, record transactions, issue receipts, balance cash, and prepare various reports. Manual tasks may include recharging golf carts, loading bags, cleaning clubs, and lifting heavy materials. The position requires operating various machinery and equipment, performing general maintenance, and ensuring equipment is in operable condition. Safety procedures and equipment utilization are essential, as is operating a computer for data entry and retrieval. Communication is vital, involving interactions with supervisors, employees, other departments, customers, and the public via telephone and radio.
