About The Position

The City of Arvada promotes Equal Pay for Equal Work. Starting salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity. The range listed reflects the entire range and typical placement is entry to mid range. The pay rate for this position is $25.00/hour. This position will be posted until filled. The purpose of this position is to oversee the golf administration as designated by the head golf professional.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of the organization and administration of a public golf course.
  • Solid knowledge of golf shop operations and merchandise.
  • Basic knowledge of marketing golf programs.
  • Knowledge of PGA Golf Management programs.
  • Excellent customer service, public relations, and conflict management skills.
  • Strong golf skills with the ability to instruct others.
  • Strong project management skills demonstrated by coordinating large tournaments.
  • Ability to make independent judgments in the absence of supervision.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and in writing, to support organizational objectives and interact with all levels of personnel within the city in a positive and cooperative manner.
  • High School/GED Education Required
  • Two (2) years of experience at high volume public facility.
  • PGA Level 1 Associate or Higher.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the golf operations including scheduling, merchandise inventory, budget, and cash management in cooperation with the Head Golf Professional and Golf Manager.
  • Leads and directs the frontline golf staff, providing high levels of program and product knowledge, with professionalism and support to staff and customers.
  • Contributes to the development and planning of the adult and junior golf programs.
  • Responsible for participating in golf shop merchandise related activities; including vendor relations, placing orders, processing invoices, receiving merchandise, inventory controls, promotion, and golf shop display.
  • Assists with Tournament Program activities, including meeting with tournament coordinators, communicating pricing and services, directing golf staff activities.
  • Interacts with numerous groups and individuals, such as patrons, vendors, service providers, other City departments and staff in the performance of daily activities including customer and staff conflicts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assists in providing quality golf experience for everyone participating at the facility.
  • Travels to and attends team and organizational meetings, training, events and activities and appropriately and professionally represents the department.
  • Assist in all junior programs as needed.
  • Schedule outside tournaments.
  • Assist with all clubs and leagues.
  • Supervises ad manages the total pro-shop operation in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the head golf professional.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Temporary, Variable Hour and Health Plan Eligible employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum cap of 48 hours.
