About The Position

Ballantyne Country Club, an 18-hole private family-oriented club in south Charlotte, is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This Rees Jones-designed course, originally opened in 1996, underwent a significant renovation in 2015 including resurfaced greens, rebuilt bunkers with Better Billy Bunker drainage, irrigation upgrades, new cart paths, rebuilt and re-grassed tee tops, and expanded practice facilities. The Assistant Superintendent will be responsible for the agronomic practices to achieve the playing conditions outlined in the course's business plan. This role also involves attracting and developing talent within the golf course maintenance team to foster a highly functional unit, with a focus on the business aspects of agronomy, technology, continuing education, and long-term strategic planning.

Requirements

2+ years turf grass management experience required.
Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices with the ability to teach others.
A strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.
Current (or ability to obtain) state certification or licensing as a pesticide applicator.
Experience with and familiar with proper procedures applying fertilizers and pesticides.
Familiar with a wide variety of course maintenance equipment.
Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

Irrigation repairs and maintenance experience preferred.
