About The Position

Verandah Club is seeking a dependable and motivated Assistant Golf Course Mechanic to help maintain the equipment that keeps our two championship golf courses in exceptional condition. Working under the direction of the Golf Course Mechanic and Golf Course Superintendent, you'll assist with the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance of a wide variety of gasoline- and diesel-powered turf equipment. From mowers and utility vehicles to specialized golf course maintenance equipment, your work will play an important role in ensuring our team has safe, reliable equipment to deliver outstanding course conditions for our members and guests every day. Requirements

Working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel and electric powered equipment
Working knowledge of the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment
Working knowledge of the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession
Ability to move heavy objects
Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment
Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction
Mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools
Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and the public
Possession of a valid driver's license, possibly a commercial driver's license (CDL)
Ability to perform moderate physical work
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs., up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly.
Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.
Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.

Responsibilities

Communicates any needs or problems relating to maintenance or repair of equipment with the mechanic and/or assistant superintendent.
Inspects/diagnoses, adjusts, and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various pieces of golf course maintenance equipment on a regular basis.
Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.
Repairs and adjusts engines and cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment.
Keeps maintenance equipment fueled, oiled, and inspected and performs related tasks as required.
Assists in maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building.
Contributes to a preventative maintenance program.
Places safety procedures as a top priority.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Assists in maintaining a clean and well-organized parts inventory room.
Adheres to the proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds, and other fluids (antifreeze, oil filters, etc.).
Assists in an effective, daily inspection of golf course maintenance equipment.
