About The Position

The Assistant High School Golf Coach will assist with the development, organization, and supervision of the high school boys and girls golf programs. The assistant coach will work collaboratively with the head coach and Activities Director to provide a positive, competitive, and student-centered experience for all student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Must meet all requirements for coaching in the State of Iowa and Ogden Community Schools.
  • Valid Coaching Authorization/Endorsement in the state of Iowa

Nice To Haves

  • Previous golf playing or coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and etiquette preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with high school students and adults.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching staff.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate student-athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach with planning and conducting practices, meets, and other golf activities.
  • Help teach and develop fundamental golf skills, including swing mechanics, short game, putting, course management, and golf etiquette.
  • Support student-athletes in developing individual goals and improving their golf performance.
  • Assist with lineup decisions, meet preparation, and competition strategy as directed by the head coach.
  • Provide instruction and encouragement to student-athletes while maintaining a positive and supportive team environment.
  • Supervise student-athletes at practices, meets, and team activities.
  • Assist with transportation, equipment, uniforms, facilities, and other logistical needs associated with the golf program.
  • Help maintain and organize golf equipment and ensure students are using school and course facilities appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively with the head coach, Activities Director, student-athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and golf course personnel.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, responsibility, and respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and the golf course.
  • Follow all school district, conference, IHSAA/IGHSAU, and other applicable rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend required coaching meetings, professional development, and trainings.
  • Complete required coaching certifications and trainings by established deadlines.
  • Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes and represent Ogden Community Schools in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or Activities Director.
