About The Position

Scissors & Scotch is an upscale barbershop and bar that caters to clients from all walks of life, offering an amazing haircut and a "Cheers"-like experience. This is a growth leadership role where you will still be behind the chair for about 32 hours a week, but also responsible for running the shop when the General Manager is unavailable. This role is for a skilled barber or stylist ready to lead, build a team, and advance their career.

Requirements

  • Be a licensed barber or cosmetologist.
  • Be a good person, adhering to Core Principles, specifically "Do The Right Thing".
  • Be able to cut hair proficiently, spending approximately 32 hours per week behind the chair.
  • Possess a desire to lead and positively influence the team and culture.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, enjoying meeting, talking to, and connecting with people.
  • Be proficient with computers for tasks such as scheduling, inventory, POS systems, and team communication.
  • Desire to work in an upscale environment with high standards for appearance and professionalism.
  • Seek personal and professional growth, viewing this role as a launchpad for future opportunities.
  • Be motivated to achieve goals and celebrate wins.
  • Be available for evenings, weekend days, and busy periods as needed for leadership coverage.
  • Be able to work a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Be the leader in the shop when the GM is out, owning the culture, maintaining high standards, and making decisions.
  • Cut hair as the primary role, approximately 32 hours per week.
  • Assist the GM with daily operations, including scheduling, training, and team oversight.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, stock, and appearance of the shop, including product inventory and presentation.
  • Drive culture by planning and executing team activities.
  • Act as a liaison between the team and management, addressing concerns and solving problems.
  • Ensure client satisfaction through active leadership and problem-solving.
  • Perform 2 to 5 hours of managerial/admin work weekly in addition to cutting hours.
