About The Position

This role involves assisting the head coach in various aspects of managing and developing the girls' softball program. The primary goal is to help students develop an appreciation for discipline and sportsmanship through athletic participation. The assistant coach will support the head coach in planning, organizing practices, teaching game fundamentals and strategy, and promoting a positive and supportive environment for student athletes.

Requirements

Fundamentals of various sports.
Health and safety regulations.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
As the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable according to Kentucky State Statutes and Kentucky Administrative Regulations.

Responsibilities

Assist coaches on one or more sports.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Assists in promoting sports in the school and community.
Assists the head coach in planning the athletic program.
Assists the head coach in organizing and supervising practices.
Assists the head coach in teaching individual fundamental skills, team plan, team strategy and rules and regulations of the game.
Assists the head coach in teaching good sportsmanship and self control.
Assists in checking eligibility of participants, including insurance coverage and parent consent.
Assists students by providing a proper role model, emotional support, patience, a friendly attitude and general guidance.
Conducts learning experiences, under the direction of the coaches, with small groups of student athletes.
Recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health, safety and welfare of student athletes.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Adheres to school board policies and administrative procedures.
Adheres to the state Professional Code of Ethics.
Demonstrates punctuality and good attendance for all duties.
