About The Position

The Assistant Soccer Coach I will assist in supporting the mission and vision of King’s Schools by coaching student athletes in Junior High and High School competition. This role involves guiding student athletes toward athletic excellence and personal growth both on and off the field. The coach will work with players in the development of individual and team skills, while also mentoring them in their growth as Christian leaders. The position requires competing and leading in a Christ-honoring way by using gifts and talents to glorify God. Communication with the head coach and reporting to the Athletic Director when necessary are key aspects of this role.

  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Previous coaching experience recommended.
  • Coaching certification through FinalForms.
  • Van Certification (if needed).
  • Ability to pass background checks relating to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions.
  • Must pass WA State Background Check.
  • Must agree with King’s Mission and Vision.
  • Hold a valid CPR/1st Aid card and keep abreast of the latest information regarding the safety of athletes in competition.
  • Meet or exceed the WIAA coaching standards as published in the WIAA Handbook or in the King’s Schools Coaches Handbook.
  • Have understanding and knowledge of King’s School’s philosophy and goals.
  • Meet and maintain the WIAA coaching standards as outlined in the WIAA Handbook.
  • Be knowledgeable about the information contained in the coach’s handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the head coach in carrying out assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist the head coach in the proper registration of all participants.
  • Assist the head coach in systematically issuing equipment.
  • Meet with all participants to discuss all rules and regulations developed for the program, with particular emphasis on the Athletic Code.
  • Attend organizational meetings with the head coach to formulate plans for the coming season.
  • Conduct oneself in a Christ-like, ethical, and moral manner; conduct oneself in a professional manner becoming of a coach.
  • Assist in implementing the Athletic Core Covenants.
  • Assume responsibility for the constant care of equipment and facilities.
  • Systematically check in all equipment immediately for any athlete that finishes the season early and store equipment in the appropriate place; report any lost equipment or fines to the head coach.
  • Assume supervisory control over athletes and teams assigned.
  • Be in regular attendance at all practices and contests.
  • Apply discipline in a firm and positive manner.
  • Emphasize safety precautions and injury preventive methods.
  • Be knowledgeable of the emergency procedures and emergency action plan.
  • Promote good sportsmanship and citizenship; emphasize ethical behavior at all times.
  • Assist the head coach in evaluating the program, players, and the progress of both.
  • Assist the head coach in every manner to assure that the program is a positive educational experience.
  • Assist in the return, storage, and inventory of school equipment at the end of the season.
  • Recommend athletes for awards; attend athletic award night.
  • Recommend facility maintenance and improvements.
  • Recommend schedule improvements to the head coach.
  • Make reports as requested by the head coach and athletic director.
  • Assume responsibility for WIAA rules to be followed throughout the entire program during the out-of-season supervisory role.
  • Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
