About The Position

The Assistant Gerant Temporaire (Temporary Assistant Manager) role at Galeries de la Capitale integrates Lush's Leadership Practices into all aspects of business interactions with customers, staff, and operations. This role supports the Shop Manager in all business areas and acts as second-in-command, taking on Manager duties as required to ensure excellent customer and staff experiences, operational excellence, and exceeding sales goals. The position emphasizes authenticity, curiosity, fearless leadership, adaptability, talent cultivation, and purpose-driven action.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of management or supervisory experience in retail.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong customer service, supervisory, and sales skills.
  • Knowledge and interest in skincare, natural beauty, and ethical businesses.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team on plans to exceed daily sales goals and ensure a unique and inclusive customer experience.
  • Educate customers and staff on brand values, including ethical sourcing, fresh cosmetics, animal testing policies, vegetarian products, handmade items, and naked packaging.
  • Enhance product knowledge through continuous learning and provide informed recommendations.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, understand key metrics and reports, and influence them through sales floor behaviors to achieve profitable results.
  • Support the team on the sales floor, answer questions, remove obstacles, problem-solve, and motivate them to meet sales goals.
  • Take ownership of personal development, assess performance, seek feedback, and pursue opportunities for skill improvement.
  • Be authentic with needs and feedback for the team and leaders, and adapt to business needs.
  • Engage the team to ensure they are inspired, motivated, building strong relationships, and connected to brand values.
  • Support the staffing of the shop by networking, recruiting, hiring, and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with the Manager on plans to improve staff engagement, retention, performance, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging practices.
  • Support the management team to ensure the shop is compliant with company standards for opening/closing, time and attendance, product integrity, respectful workplace, health and safety, and daily communication.
  • Support the training of the inventory team on fresh standards and rotation rules, and manage ordering within budget.
  • Identify and support team development for a clean and beautiful work environment, following merchandising and design standards.
  • Ensure the correct number of staff with the right skill levels are scheduled at peak times, and that breaks and meals are allocated and recorded appropriately.
