About The Position

MV Transportation is seeking an Assistant General Manager to provide support, leadership and direction to assigned operating personnel to ensure delivery of the division business plan in our fast-paced transit business. The role involves ensuring performance indicators meet or exceed client and corporate expectations, and that division goals and objectives are met. The Assistant General Manager will also ensure subordinate staff are well trained and successful, and that all company policies and procedures are followed. This position promotes the company vision, values, and culture throughout operations and works to minimize liquidated damages. The role also involves developing and maintaining positive employee and labor relations, directly overseeing operations department managers, and training a future successor. The Assistant General Manager will successfully manage the Operations Department annual budget and assume responsibility of the General Manager during their absence. They will assist with daily operations, vehicle maintenance, and scheduling, ensuring adherence to safety standards and company policies. The role also includes assisting with budgeting and cost control, helping to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for profitability and contract compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture. They will provide guidance to operations staff and assist the General Manager in long-term strategic initiatives, while maintaining positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of recent, relevant experience managing fixed-route
  • Certifications according to local contract as required
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations as well as company policies and procedures
  • Experience in development of runs, shift bids and run cuts
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills including written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Strong supervision skills with ability to lead others to success
  • Ability to develop solutions to challenge through planning and implementation
  • Ability to write and speak English

Responsibilities
