About The Position

The Ridge Tavern is a premier neighborhood gaming tavern offering a welcoming atmosphere, elevated American comfort food, craft beverages, and exceptional guest service. The Assistant General Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring financial success, operational excellence, and team development of The Ridge Tavern. This position supports the General Manager in overseeing daily operations while fostering a culture of accountability, hospitality, and performance. As the Assistant General Manager at The Ridge Tavern, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of tavern operations, including gaming, food and beverage service, team leadership, and financial performance. Your primary focus will be developing and mentoring the hourly team to ensure full understanding and execution of operational standards, policies, and procedures. You will lead by example, demonstrating service excellence, integrity, and professionalism. The Assistant General Manager is expected to drive sales growth in gaming, food, and beverage while maintaining cost-of-goods targets and operational efficiency. Proficiency in the Toast POS system is required. You will oversee inventory controls, product levels, vendor relations, equipment functionality, building maintenance, and compliance with OSHA, Health District, Gaming, and local regulatory standards. A comprehensive understanding of gaming compliance is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong understanding of tavern operations, personnel management, food and beverage planning, purchasing, par levels, inventory controls, sanitation, health codes, and security procedures.
  • Must have open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Food Handler’s Card, TAM Card, and Non-Gaming registration.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Ability to lift-up to 45 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: 2–3 years of gaming experience.
  • Preferred: 3–5 years of gaming management experience.
  • Preferred: 3–5 years of Food & Beverage management experience in a high-volume setting.
  • Experience with Konami Gaming systems and POS platforms preferred.
  • Expertly understanding Profit & Loss statements and budget management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily gaming, restaurant, and bar operations in a high-volume environment.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and operational readiness for all shifts.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and kitchen leadership to develop menus, promotions, and special offerings.
  • Oversee hiring, training, coaching, and supervision of Front-of-House team members.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in service execution, beverage preparation, and guest engagement.
  • Manage fiscal responsibilities, including budgeting, labor controls, and cost-of-goods management.
  • Review gaming and sales reports; interpret data to drive performance improvements.
  • Prioritize the guest experience to ensure consistent satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Ensure compliance with Health Department, Gaming, OSHA, TAM, and local regulations.
  • Enforce company standards through coaching, counseling, and accountability.
  • Maintain proficiency in POS systems and restaurant management software.
  • Oversee beverage ordering, par levels, and inventory management.
  • Monitor liquor costs versus sales to ensure profitability.
  • Negotiate with vendors and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Create employee schedules based on forecasted business levels.
  • Ensure all licenses and certifications (health, safety, liquor, gaming) remain current.
  • Uphold standards for food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
  • Address guest concerns professionally and foster long-term customer loyalty.
  • Perform additional duties as required within the scope of the position.
