About The Position

Devon Self Storage is seeking a Full-Time Assistant General Manager for their store located in Jackson, MS. This role involves covering shifts at a second location as well. The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for creating a great customer experience by assisting customers with storage unit selection, completing sales, and processing payments. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about customer service, sales, and continuous learning, offering a customer-focused role with career growth opportunities outside of traditional retail hours.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs.
  • Strong customer service skills and communication required.
  • Proven ability to work independently when needed and follow through on assignments.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance with access to reliable transportation used during the workday to travel to vendors and/or other worksites.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic to moderate knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Ability to regularly perform indoors and outdoors with exposure to adverse environmental conditions, weather, noise extremes and chemical, debris and traffic hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the store is opened, closed, and secured each business day.
  • Meet and exceed sales goals through rentals, protection plans, and other merchandise.
  • Ensure products are ordered, received, stocked, priced, and displayed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist the General Manager with the online auction process.
  • Build and maintain long-lasting customer relationships by helping customers find the right storage solutions.
  • Deliver a personalized, high-touch customer experience.
  • Process payments, balance receipts, and complete bank deposit drops.
  • Conduct daily property walkthroughs to perform safety inspections and lock checks.
  • Clean storage units.
  • Open and close storage doors.
  • Complete tasks that require lifting 30+ lbs.
  • Perform light maintenance, including mopping, sweeping, changing light bulbs, cleaning bathrooms, and other light maintenance and landscaping duties.
