About The Position

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for executing daily production plans to meet or exceed customer service level expectations while achieving maximum operating efficiency safely. This role ensures the daily balancing of labor availability and volume requirements throughout the facility. The Assistant General Manager also ensures the daily inspection of the physical condition of the distribution center and equipment, directing needed maintenance and/or repair. This position develops, analyzes, and recommends operational and systemic improvements to meet current and future service, throughput, and cost objectives. Additionally, the Assistant General Manager recruits, hires, trains, develops, and retains effective shift management teams in partnership with Talent Acquisition. In conjunction with HR, this role develops, implements, and measures the effectiveness of associate training programs. The Assistant General Manager sets goals, communicates clear expectations for managers, and provides timely and constructive feedback. This role provides the resources and support needed for successful and safe facility operations, and communicates effectively with managers and associates regarding business objectives or current issues. The Assistant General Manager provides management team members with meaningful developmental opportunities and prepares them for upward promotion as applicable, while delegating responsibilities and fostering open dialogue amongst associates. This role works closely with associates to set goals and provides open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement, aligning team efforts, building accountability, and measuring progress in achieving results. The Assistant General Manager identifies and addresses improvement opportunities, leading the entire facility through change, and ensures all safety policies and procedures are implemented and observed, and that equipment and work areas are clean and well organized.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Supply Chain Operations or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • 6+ years of operations experience in a large volume center environment
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with direct reports, including experience leading managers
