About The Position

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager oversees facility operations and serves as a key member of the leadership team. This role ensures alignment with strategic goals, drives performance against business metrics, and supports operational excellence across departments, including Finance, Booking, Food & Beverage, Operations/Events, and Human Resources. The position promotes organizational efficiency, financial performance, and a high standard of customer service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of relevant industry experience, including three (3) years in a management role within an arena, theater, or similar venue, or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in operations, contract negotiation, finance, HR, and labor relations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of live events, sports, and entertainment industries.
  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations, including crowd management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and operate independently.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Experience managing facility operations within a public assembly venue, arena, convention center, theater, stadium, or similar entertainment facility.
  • Sufficient computer skills to operate computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of normal business applications such as Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Adobe, et cetera.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member.
  • Requires ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Execute operational strategies and objectives in alignment with General Manager direction, contractual obligations, tenant needs, and corporate policies.
  • Oversee multiple departments and partner with leaders to evaluate performance, improve processes, and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Support development and execution of KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Enhance operational efficiency and implement best practices across the organization.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning and organizational positioning.
  • Establish goals that drive performance, culture, and growth.
  • Analyze data, trends, and market insights to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Maintain relationships with community partners, government entities, and local stakeholders, including the City of Stockton and Sports Tenants.
  • Ensure high customer service standards to strengthen brand reputation and drive repeat business.
  • Assist in developing annual and capital budgets.
  • Conduct post-event financial and operational evaluations.
  • Lead and participate in meetings to ensure proper alignment and collaboration.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors, promoters, and tenants.
  • Oversee staff development, training, and safety programs.
  • Serve as acting General Manager when needed and as executive lead during events.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, health and safety standards.
  • Support achievement of organizational goals and operational excellence.
  • Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Partner with the Facilities and Operations teams to develop and execute preventative maintenance plans for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Monitor the condition of all venue assets and identify capital repair, replacement, and improvement needs.
  • Assist in the planning, budgeting, and execution of capital projects, facility upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Directly supervises employees in the Stockton Complex. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with LEGENDS GLOBAL's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
