Position Summary In consultation with the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager, Events manages, supervises, and coordinates the event operations of the at the new Mobile Arena while providing support for the Events at the Saenger Theater. This includes but is not limited to all front of house operations, event management, guest services, security, box office operations, and coordination with promoters and producers for events. This is a senior level venue management position and expected to provide strong leadership contributing to the success of the venue. This role pays an annual salary of $110,000-$130,000 and is bonus eligible Benefits for Full-Time roles: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays) This position will remain open until May 22, 2026. About the Venue The new Mobile Arena will anchor a lively downtown Mobile, Alabama, a city that offers world-class accommodations, retail shops, restaurants, museums, parks, and art galleries. The state-of-the-art 10,000 capacity arena is under construction and scheduled to open in early 2027. It will be home to a minor league hockey team, concerts, family shows, regional and national sports events, community gatherings, and annual Mardi Gras events. It will include a wide range of premium seating and experiences including suites, clubs, and loge boxes and include over 27,000 square feet of multi-purpose and pre-event space. This OVG managed property also includes the Saenger Theater and the Mobile Convention Center. The Saenger Theater seats 1,900 patrons and hosts over 70,000 guests annually. It is the home of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra and has hosted national acts such as The Avett Brothers, Willie Nelson, Chicago, The Black Jacket Symphony, Vince Gill, Bob Dylan, and more. The Mobile Convention Center is a 317,000 square foot facility and features sixteen meeting rooms, two ballrooms, and two exhibit halls totaling 100,000 square feet.

Requirements

  • Degree from accredited college/university preferred
  • Must have at least 3-5 years' experience in event management
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in supervising the work of others
  • 3 or more years' experience in Event production
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control.
  • Proven ability in communicating with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of event management. This includes front of house and back of house activities for all arena events.
  • Manage and provide effective leadership for all employees of the events, guest services, box office, and security departments.
  • Lead and coordinate the training of front of house part-time staff.
  • Develop and administer the events, security, and box office operating budgets ensuring effective and cost-efficient programs.
  • Develop and manage individual event budgets and event forecasts throughout the year.
  • Develop proformas for all arena events.
  • Responsible for implementing and overseeing an exemplary customer service program creating lasting memories for all guests and customers.
  • Communicate effectively with the Event Programming department regarding upcoming events and calendar management.
  • Develop and update comprehensive event management policies and manuals.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, facility stakeholders and facility users.
  • Coordinate and oversee advancement of event details with event promoters and produces.
  • Effectively communicate event details with every department in the venue ensuring proper preparation for events.
  • Act as one of the primary Executives on Duty at all events held at the arena.
  • Assist finance department with event financial settlements.
  • Prepare department and staff reports consistently.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with IATSE for applicable events.
  • Coordinate event management elements with the city of Mobile when applicable.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
