The Assistant General Counsel position will work in the Office of General Counsel to provide legal advice and counsel to the leaders of Appalachian State University. The Assistant General Counsel must demonstrate: high ethical standards, including a strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity; ability to identify and resolve legal issues; commitment to the support and fulfillment of the university’s mission; ability to employ excellent listening, oral, and written communication skills; interpersonal skills; research and analytical skills; reasoned judgment; ability to prioritize tasks and organize work; ability to supervise staff in the fulfillment of the office mission; ability to combine legal considerations with program and policy objectives in the development of practical solutions that meet client needs; word processing and related skills to create, edit, and publish legal memoranda, briefs, contracts, and other work products.
