About The Position

Aramark’s Legal Department seeks an attorney to serve as Assistant General Counsel –Litigation. This person will be a key member of the Employment Law and Litigation Team, which provides comprehensive legal support for U.S. employment-related, and litigation matters across all of Aramark’s lines of business. This position will focus on a core set of litigation responsibilities and provide legal support in those designated areas across all of Aramark’s operations within the United States. This functional responsibility will include the handling of litigation, government investigations and administrative proceedings, the monitoring of certain areas of law and regulation, developing policies and procedures and providing advice and counsel to enable compliance with laws and regulations, and overseeing Aramark’s affirmative recovery program. The position will be based at Aramark’s corporate headquarters in Philadelphia, PA and will report to the Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel – Employment, Litigation, Government Affairs & Supply Chain/GPO.

Requirements

  • A J.D. with strong academic credentials.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a sophisticated law firm and/or corporate legal department handling employment and litigation matters before federal, state and local courts and administrative agencies and counseling clients on litigation-related issues.
  • Current Pennsylvania bar admission or admission in another jurisdiction with the ability and interest in becoming licensed to practice in Pennsylvania.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Aramark’s litigation portfolio, including general commercial litigation, consumer protection claims, insured general liability and automotive liability claims, insured employment litigation, restrictive covenant disputes, and affirmative recovery matters.
  • Provide sound counsel, legal advice, and strategic support on compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Oversee Aramark’s affirmative recovery practice.
  • Assess brand and reputational risks associated with litigation and government investigations and provide advice and counsel about the impact of those risks.
  • Enable growth by preparing, reviewing, and/or negotiating various legal documents including, but not limited to, solicitations, contracts, agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze legal issues which impact the business.
  • Stay abreast of new and changing laws and litigation and enforcement trends.
  • Establish best practices across the litigation function.
  • Oversee outside counsel and manage outside counsel relationships and programs.
