Requirements

  • An LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • At least 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the legal field.
  • Excellent legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Ongoing knowledge of federal or state law.
  • Ability to communicate clearly – both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and analyze legal materials and other data.
  • Ability to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Handles numerous commercial, corporate, and procurement matters in support of all business units.
  • Plans, conducts, and supervises complex legal assignments, evaluating legal and business risks and advising clients.
  • Interprets and applies organization policy according to law.
  • Provides general legal advice, contract review, and drafting and negotiating agreements and deal terms.
  • Counsels clients and coordinates with the litigation team on warranty, breach, and other performance issues.
  • Coordinates with and provides consulting specialist support for OpCo and other Exelon BSC unit lawyers on corporate and commercial issues related to service agreements and transactions governed by electric or gas utility tariffs, laws, or regulations.
  • Provides guidance and training within the subject area.
  • Prepares and revises budgets and early matter assessments for matters involving outside counsel.
  • Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff.
  • Works independently and with other attorneys on complex commercial matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
  • Supports more senior attorneys in the ongoing management of relationships and matters with Exelon Operating Companies/Business Units and outside counsel.
  • Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.
  • Demonstrates innovation; generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs or actions.
  • Possesses an ability to learn, adopt, and leverage AI-enabled tools to support research, drafting, and analysis while applying sound professional judgment.
