About The Position

This position will join the in-house Legal Real Estate team supporting all aspects of Family Dollar real estate and construction. The role will support the management of its existing portfolio of 7,200 stores nationwide and continuing growth, with an emphasis on retail leasing.

Requirements

• JD from accredited law school required.
• Member of a state bar in good standing and able to practice as in-house counsel in Virginia – including the ability to obtain a Corporate Counsel Certificate
• At least 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney, ideally including real estate leasing experience (in-house or outside counsel).
• Experience dealing with high volume transactions and leases.

Nice To Haves

• Retail real estate experience a plus.
• Construction law experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate retail leases, real estate contracts and related documents.
• Provide ongoing legal support to in house real estate and construction teams primarily responsible for new store leasing and construction.
• Provide legal support for real estate acquisitions and dispositions.
• Provide legal support for real estate related disputes and litigation.
