About The Position

Leads and assists in the work of a small crew in maintaining facilities and landscaped areas of the cemetery. This role involves planning work, maintaining records, preparing gravesites, grounds maintenance, and supervising a work crew in the absence of the Cemetery Foreman.

Requirements

• Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent
• One to three years of experience in the maintenance of a cemetery
• Valid Current Commercial Driver's License
• Knowledge of landscape and ground maintenance practices
• Knowledge of use of construction equipment for landscape maintenance and excavation
• Ability to operate various pieces of grounds maintenance or construction equipment
• Ability to maintain accurate records
• Ability to understand maps and blueprints
• Ability to communicate effectively with others
• Ability to lead the work of others

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in the work of a small crew maintaining cemetery grounds
• Assist Cemetery Foreman in planning work to be done, maintain time and work records
• Lead and participate in locating, marking, and preparing gravesites for funeral, providing amenities, and closing gravesite
• Lead and participate in maintenance of cemetery grounds, and maintenance and repair of irrigation system
• Assist in inspecting cemetery grounds for necessary maintenance or repairs
• Assist in employee selection, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
• Supervise work crew in the absence of the Cemetery Foreman
• Perform related duties as directed
