About The Position

The Assistant Football Coach supports the Head Football Coach in the organization, administration, and development of the football program. This position assists in maintaining a competitive NCAA Division III program while supporting the academic success, personal development, and overall welfare of student-athletes. The Assistant Coach works collaboratively with athletic department staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • One year of professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college student-athletes and university personnel
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and commitment to compliance
  • Ability to assist with recruiting and student-athlete development initiatives
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., as the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Collegiate coaching and/or playing experience
  • Experience supporting recruiting operations and program administration

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and conducting practices, meetings, and game preparation
  • Coach and develop a designated position group as assigned
  • Assist with opponent scouting, film analysis, and game planning
  • Implement and reinforce program standards, terminology, and technique instruction
  • Support team travel logistics, practice organization, and equipment management
  • Maintain working knowledge of NCAA Division III, conference, and institutional rules
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who fit the institution and program culture
  • Maintain regular communication with prospective student-athletes, families, and high school coaches
  • Collaborate with admissions and athletics staff to support the recruiting process
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility in coordination with academic support staff
  • Promote a positive environment focused on personal development, leadership, and accountability
  • Assist with daily administrative functions of the football program
  • Support facility scheduling, team operations, and internal communication
  • Assist with budget oversight and responsible use of program resources
  • Supervise student workers, interns, or volunteer staff as assigned
  • Assist with game management responsibilities as directed
  • Build positive relationships with alumni, supporters, and members of the campus community
  • Represent the football program at community, recruiting, and university events
  • Support alumni engagement and fundraising initiatives consistent with NCAA guidelines
  • Maintain current knowledge of coaching strategies and best practices
  • Participate in professional development opportunities including clinics and coaching associations
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives and service opportunities when appropriate
