About The Position

This is a part-time, temporary position paid via stipend of $4,000.00. It requires specific clearances (PA Child Abuse, PA State Police, and FBI Fingerprinting) and a pre-employment drug screening. Part-time casual employees are hired on a seasonal basis, serving a maximum of four consecutive months and limited to 25 hours per week. The assistant coach will support the head coach in all team matters, actively promote the college and its programs, assist with fundraising, and recruit students for the college and its intercollegiate athletic program.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED in conjunction with previous coaching experience required
Knowledge of NCAA and NJCAA rules and compliance
Valid First Aid and CPR Certification are required; if certifications are not current at time of hire, continued employment is contingent upon obtaining these certifications within 2 weeks of hire
PA Child Abuse Clearance
PA State Police Clearance
FBI Fingerprinting Clearance
Pre-employment drug screening test

Responsibilities

Assisting in the organization and administration of the team
Enforcing the rules of the game for the particular spot
Assisting in planning and conducting all practice sessions
Being the Assistant coach at all home and away games
Driving student athletes in rental vans to and from competitions
Understanding, promoting, and applying the philosophy of the intercollegiate athletic program at Montgomery County Community College
Setting a good example for the students to follow, and promoting the highest level of good sportsmanship
Counseling and possibly reprimanding students who display unsportsmanlike or unacceptable behavior, such as using drugs and alcohol on campus prior to, during, and following practice sessions and games
Actively recruiting high school students in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania
Cooperating with the Athletic Trainer/medical coverage in evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating injuries
Performing other tasks assigned by the Director of Athletics
