This position is located on site in Annapolis Junction, MD. Under direction of the Facility Manager, the Assistant Facility Manager (Electrical Shop) will plan, organize and direct the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the campus electrical infrastructure. The Assistant Facility Manager (Electrical Shop) will provide technical staff assistance and will be responsible for switchgear equipment, generators and UPS equipment located throughout the campus.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilities operations and/or maintenance related work.
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Journeyman Electrician or OEM Certification for Generators (in good standing).
  • Knowledge of various electrical equipment including, but not limited to: switchgear, generators and UPS equipment.
  • Must have the ability to supervise, train and motivate subordinates to attain stated objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Mature judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess the required security clearance.
  • Master Electrician License (in good standing).
  • Understanding of Government contracts, correspondence, reports and records.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Building Management to accomplish all services under the statement of work.
  • Review all site work to verify compliance in accordance with applicable plans, procedures and all governing codes.
  • Direct development of and adherence to predictive maintenance program/schedule.
  • Provide leadership, training, motivation, performance evaluation, coaching, recognition and accountability for maintenance department employees.
  • Establish department priorities that support contract objectives for safety, customer satisfaction, productivity, etc.
  • Coordinate with personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Interpret, apply and explain complex codes, regulations and procedures.
  • Prepare and present weekly / monthly Technical Progress Reports as needed.
  • Schedule on call and preventive maintenance personnel.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Confer with and advise other management personnel regarding maintenance projects and priorities.
  • Assist in developing cost estimates, budget, correspondence and status reports.
  • Operate customer and company motor vehicles in a safe manner.
  • Support other department staff as needed or directed.
  • Adhere to the established safety and personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors but may include outdoor work. Must be able to work at varying heights (i.e. ladder, roof tops, underground, etc.) in a variety of conditions.
