About The Position

BJ’s Restaurants is looking for hyper growth oriented Kitchen Managers looking to fast-track their career to Executive Kitchen Manager. This role is responsible for managing all functions of the restaurant during opening, mid, or closing shifts. The Assistant Executive Kitchen Manager is responsible for directing the operation of the restaurant, attaining sales, controlling costs, achieving profit objectives, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, service, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in partnership with the other managers. All management positions at BJ’s Restaurants are classified as exempt. As an exempt manager, you must spend more than 50% of your time performing managerial duties and must regularly exercise independent judgment and discretion on matters of consequence to the restaurant.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years full service, high volume, casual dining restaurant management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Managing all functions of the restaurant during opening, mid, or closing shifts.
  • Hiring, managing, supervising, and training restaurant team members.
  • Providing direction to the kitchen manager and kitchen team members.
  • Ensuring a gold standard guest experience.
  • Ensuring the safety of our guests, team members, and property.
  • Overseeing the quality of our food and beverage offerings.
  • Preparing and modifying team member work schedules and food and beverage orders to ensure appropriate inventory.
  • Directing the operation of the restaurant, attaining sales, controlling costs, achieving profit objectives, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality, service, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation in partnership with the other managers.
  • Performing Open/Mid-Day/Closing duties.
  • Conducting daily briefings on matters of importance to the kitchen manager and team members.
  • Managing all necessary repair and maintenance issues, and supervising cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensuring the production of high-quality foods on a consistent basis.
  • Ensuring team member and kitchen manager compliance with all audit standards (internal and external audits).
  • Updating the daily communication board with key restaurant and promotion announcements.
  • Facilitating and directing all in-restaurant training programs.
  • Exercising discretion and independent judgment in facilitating zone management (Hospitality, Guest Relations, Quality Fast).
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with all Company policies and laws, including health and safety standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with BJ’s Code of Integrity, Ethics, and Conduct, BJ’s Seven Cs, and BJ’s Principles of Professional Service.
  • Ensuring safety and sanitation in the restaurant.
  • Monitoring food and beverage quality and execution and directing team members and kitchen manager to ensure compliance with BJ’s standards.
  • Assigning and directing team member execution of cleanliness and safety procedures.
  • Providing coaching and general direction to Kitchen Manager(s) to ensure their effective leadership.
  • Conducting RAFTT (Recipe-Appearance-Flavor-Temperature-Texture) per BJ’s culinary guidelines.
  • Coaching, mentoring, and disciplining hourly team members.
  • Providing feedback to kitchen manager for career development and overall compliance with BJ’s standards.
  • Monitoring and facilitating team member recognition.
  • Making recommendations concerning development, promotion, and disciplinary action affecting team members and kitchen manager(s) that are given serious weight by the Executive Kitchen Manager and General Manager.
  • Making hiring and termination decisions and/or making recommendations to General Manager regarding hiring and termination decisions which are given serious weight.
  • Cooperating with Team Member Relations Department and management team in investigating Team Member Hotline and Restaurant Support Center inquiries relating to restaurant.
  • Promoting and developing in-restaurant training team and career progression (culinary mastery).
  • Training, coaching, and developing team members and Kitchen Manager(s) to ensure they are providing Gold Standard service to BJ's guests and to each other in execution of their responsibilities within the kitchen.
  • Managing guest relations and guest recovery.
